Iran, with which NZ has had diplomatic relations for 35 years, has critical challenges in promoting reconciliation within its region, as well as internally.

Dr Goldsmith has studied and researched issues of culture, society, and power in the Pacific Islands and New Zealand.
28 October “Mediation and Reconciliation “The Pacific Way””, Ema Tagicakibau
With reference to current Fiji, Ema will share Pacific people’s responses to today’s major changes and challenges.
Ms Ema Tagicakibau has been elected Member of Parliament in 1999. An advocate of women's rights, Ms tagicakibau worked for the Fiji Women's Rights Movement before becoming a member of Parliament. She was appointed Assistant to the Prime Minister also in 1999. During the 2000 coup attempt Ema Tagicakibau was held hostage with four other women MPS by the rebels.
