The United Nations Association of New Zealand's main ruling body is the National Council. The National Council meets four to five times a year in order to discus and vote on yearly budgets, long-term strategic plans, policies, actions, and upcoming events.

National Council Meeting minutes are available upon request from the Administrative Office, in the National Office: office@unanz.org.nz.

The National Council of UNANZ also meets yearly for the Annual General Meeting - usually held in May, in conjunction with the National Conference. In 2010 the Annual General Meeting was held in Wanganui, on the 9 May from 9am at the Quakers Settlement (76 Virginia Rd, Wanganui.)  

UNANZ elects it's National Council members yearly, and all current financial members of UNANZ are eligible to be nominated. Nomination forms are due four weeks before the AGM, in the National Office. All Nomination Forms must be signed by the nominee, and two other UNANZ members. 

The 2009-2010 United Nations Association of New Zealand National Executive meets roughly monthly, to discuss upcoming events, National Office business, and payments and accounts.

The National Executive is elected during the yearly Annual General Meeting, at the same time as the National Council. All current financial members of UNANZ are eligible to be elected to a National Executive Position. The 2010-2011 National Executive nomination forms are due back in the National Office on 11 April 2010, after having been signed by the nominee, and two supporters from UNANZ.
