Aotearoa Youth Declaration 2026

UN Youth New Zealand releases the Aotearoa Youth Declaration 2026

11 August 2026

UNANZ is proud to help share the news: UN Youth New Zealand has officially released the Aotearoa Youth Declaration 2026.

Developed by rangatahi from across Aotearoa, the Declaration represents the collective voice of young people on the issues shaping our future, including education, healthcare, employment, housing, climate action, governance, and justice. Over four days in Tāmaki Makaurau, alongside regional engagement events across the motu, participants worked together to build practical recommendations for New Zealand's decision-makers.

We congratulate the UN Youth NZ team, the volunteers, organising committee, facilitators, and every rangatahi who took part. Particular thanks go to Zoe Dzapasi, who coordinated this year's programme, and to the partners, supporters, speakers, and communities who supported it.

The Declaration is a reminder that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow. They are active contributors to the decisions being made today.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari kē he toa takitini.
My success is not mine alone, it is the strength of many.
